Vietnam: Week 19 (in which we celebrate MY birthday!!)

So my birthday is not until the 20th, but because half of my roommates are going on vacation next week..this week we got to celebrate:

MY BIRTHDAY!! I have sparkly yellow nails, and I got to wear my favorite tacky yellow dress.

My roommates set up the table when we all got home from work.

And they got me three whole bags of presents.

And they put yellow balloons all over the living room and wrote inside jokes on all of them.

We made a truth or dare jenga game (you write questions on half of them and dares on half of them, then whatever you pull out you have to answer/do) and I got a (yellow!) bucket of rum and coke.

I took lots of selfies.

Then I got to open LOTS of presents. Which were mostly junk food.

I got tons of junk food, and some cute cups and bowls and stuff and even a puzzle.

And a hangover kit, aka a puke bag and a hangover drink from Alcohol Doctor? I haven't used either. I'll report back when I do.

They sang me happy birthday...

And I got my cake.

And as tradition, we tore it apart.

I also got a Hello Kitty tablecloth!

And we took a bunch of stupid pictures.

Then we played this game called Sardines. Which is essentially backwards hide-and-seek.  One person hides, and everyone else (9 people in this case) has to find them. If you find the person hiding you have to hide in the same spot with them, the last person to find the spot loses and has to hide next.

So 9 of us would stand in the hallway while 1 person hid, and then we'd go find them. We thought it would last like 30 seconds because 10 adults shouldn't be able to find a hiding spot in one apartment, but people were crammed in window sills, under couches, in cupboards. It is one of the most fun games I've ever played. Highly recommend.

All in all I had a great time and my roommates did such a good job of making me feel special and happy. And even though I'm going to be 23 for one more week, my 24th birthday was already one of my all time best.

Vietnam: Week 18 (in which our new roommate ditches)

So our new roommate, Alex, who moved in a few weeks ago already changed his mind and decided to get back to the U.S. But because this was his last week with us it was pretty busy sending him off.

This is Bia Set, which I've posted a million times already I'm sure, but we went there a lot this week.

It is my favorite place to drink beer.

This is the night market.

This is where we took Alex to buy touristy stuff.

And oh look it's Bia Set again. This is the guy who owns it (we're pretty sure). He loves us and serenades us.

And this is our favorite waiter. He also loves us for some reason.

We are celebrities here. They took a ton of pictures of us, which hopefully eventually I'll get a hold of.

Shoe and Tuna <3

Me and Alex <3

This is 5 of my roommates in one shot (with my leg as a bonus), because all 10 of us watched a movie at the same time and it really pleases me when we are all in one room. Saturday night Tuna, Shoe, and I all took a taxi to the airport in the middle of the night to say goodbye and drop off Alex. And he is now en route to his home in Oregon.
